Their story

begins with a Greek Taverna in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, coincidentally called, Uncle Nick’s.

Uncle Nick’s was in need of a cashier and luckily, Yuliya was in need of a weekend job. One cloudy Sunday, she passed a “Help Wanted” sign not once, but three times before finally going in. In the afternoon lull of his lunch shift, Nick saw Yuliya come in and inquire about the job. Nick claims that the moment he saw her, he nudged the head chef and said “We gotta hire her.”

(Note: Nick’s involvement in this moment is hotly contested.)

They rushed to clock-in on the weekends despite their busy schedules Monday through Friday. Yuliya was working her first job after graduating college at a magazine and Nick was finishing school at Baruch. Thanks to the energy and dizzying optimism of their 20s, Nick and Yuliya went from weekend shifts to breakfast on Sundays at Giorgio’s. Luckily, they both thought, “I could get used to this.

Over the next seven years, they created a colorful montage of memories–late date nights around the city, camping by Colorado’s golden sand dunes, sweaty sunrises in the Amazon Rainforest, and sweet midday naps with their cats, Nittany and Chichi. Their soundtrack became a mix of bluegrass and honky-tonk from Sunny’s (which, is where within just months of dating they declared the intention of “forever” to each other), the laughter of family BBQs and boat rides and karaoke sessions with their friends.

On June 17th, 2023, Nick proposed to Yuliya right by that very place that they saw a glimpse of their future. After years of job changes, COVID and sharing a home, they decided they liked hanging out together and wanted to do some more of that.

Now, Nick, Yuliya, and their families can’t wait to add one more core memory to their montage! Celebrating their union in marriage with all of their friends and loved ones on May 31st, 2025 in Littleton, Colorado.

They can’t wait see all of you!
